Conditions d’utilisation
Les conditions qui régissent votre utilisation de pdfsignpad.
Cette page n’est disponible qu’en anglais. Le texte en anglais fait foi ; le reste de l’interface de pdfsignpad est disponible dans les 7 langues prises en charge.
Effective date: July 5, 2026.
The short version: PDF Sign Pad is a free tool that runs entirely in your browser — you sign or fill a PDF on your own device, and we never see or store your document or your signature. It creates a simple electronic signature, not a certified or identity-verified one — Section 6 explains what that means and why it matters. Use the tool lawfully and you're all set. We provide it "as is," without guarantees, and our liability is limited as described in Section 9. Our explains what little data we do collect and how you control it. This short version is just a summary — the full Terms below are what actually govern your use.
1. Agreement to these Terms
These Terms of Service ("Terms") are an agreement between you and ZIX DEV Inc, a Delaware corporation with its registered address at 1111B S Governors Ave STE 40023, Dover, DE 19904, United States ("ZIX DEV," "we," "us," or "our"). They cover your use of pdfsignpad.com, marketed as PDF Sign Pad (the "Service").
By using the Service, you agree to these Terms. If you don't agree, please don't use it. You must be at least 13 (or the minimum age of digital consent in your country) and able to legally enter into this agreement.
2. What PDF Sign Pad is
PDF Sign Pad is a free, browser-based tool for signing and filling PDFs. You can draw, type, upload, or reuse a saved signature; add text anywhere (dates, names, form answers); and download a finished, flattened `-signed.pdf`. No accounts, no sign-up, no payment.
Everything happens on your device. Your document and your signature are processed inside your own browser; we never upload, see, or store them. See our for how that works, and Section 6 for what kind of signature the Service creates.
The Service is free today. If that ever changes — new paid features, limits, and so on — we'll update these Terms and the site first.
3. Your privacy
Our explains what information we do (and don't) collect — including how we treat a signature you choose to save in your own browser for reuse — and governs your use of the Service alongside these Terms.
4. Using the Service
We grant you a personal, non-exclusive, revocable license to use PDF Sign Pad for your own personal or business purposes, subject to these Terms.
Please don't:
- sign or apply a mark to a document you don't have the legal right or authorization to sign or complete;
- use the Service to forge, fake, or apply a signature purporting to be someone else's without their authorization, or to impersonate another person;
- represent a signature created with the Service, to any third party, as a certified, qualified, notarized, or identity-verified signature — it isn't one (Section 6);
- copy, reverse-engineer, decompile, or build derivative works from the Service's software, except where the law says we can't stop you;
- resell, sublicense, rent, or pass the Service off as your own product;
- remove or obscure any copyright, trademark, or other notice;
- use bots, scrapers, or other automated tools to access, overload, disrupt, or probe the Service;
- try to get around any technical limit we put in place;
- use the Service for anything unlawful or fraudulent, to violate someone else's rights, or to process or generate infringing or illegal content;
- upload files designed to exploit, disrupt, or gain unauthorized access to the Service or another user's device;
- misrepresent your identity or your connection to ZIX DEV Inc.
We may suspend or block access for anyone we reasonably believe is breaking these rules, without prior notice where needed to protect the Service or other users.
5. Your files, your signature, your rights
You own your files and your signature. Anything you process with PDF Sign Pad — a document, a drawn/typed/uploaded signature image, or added text ("Content") — belongs entirely to you. Because processing happens on your own device, we never receive, see, or store it — there's nothing for us to claim any right to.
You're responsible for your Content. You confirm you have the right to process any file you use with the tool, and that doing so doesn't break the law or violate anyone else's rights. You also confirm that you have the legal right and authority to sign the specific document with the specific signature you apply, and that a simple electronic signature is an acceptable way to sign it — see Section 6, which explains what that means and where the responsibility for that check sits with you.
Saved signatures. If you choose to save a signature in your browser for reuse — an explicit, opt-in choice, off by default — that saved mark is treated as personal data. It lives only on your own device and is never transmitted to us. Our explains this store, your control over it, and how to delete it.
6. The signature you create — what it is, and what it isn't
PDF Sign Pad creates a simple electronic signature — your drawn, typed, or uploaded mark, flattened onto the PDF you already had open. It is not a qualified, advanced, certified, or notarized signature, and it does not involve identity verification, an audit trail, or a tamper-evident cryptographic seal. There is no server-side record of who signed, when, or from where — that's a direct consequence of the Service running entirely on your own device (Section 2).
Simple electronic signatures are broadly recognized as legally valid for many everyday documents and transactions, but some kinds of documents — for example wills and certain court, family-law, or notarized records — commonly require something more than a simple electronic signature, and this varies by jurisdiction and document type. Our explains this in more detail, including background on the relevant frameworks (the US ESIGN Act/UETA and the EU's eIDAS Regulation).
You are solely responsible for determining whether a simple electronic signature is legally acceptable for your specific document, transaction, and jurisdiction — including any requirement your counterparty, employer, court, or regulator may impose — before you rely on it. If you're unsure, or the document is high-stakes or of a kind that commonly requires more than a simple signature, consult a licensed attorney in the relevant jurisdiction. This section works alongside, not instead of, our warranty disclaimer (Section 8) and limitation of liability (Section 9).
7. Our intellectual property
The Service itself — its software, design, and the "PDF Sign Pad" name and branding — belongs to ZIX DEV Inc or our licensors, and is protected by copyright, trademark, and other laws. These Terms don't transfer any of that to you; you get only the license in Section 4.
Open source. PDF Sign Pad is built in part on open-source software and fonts, including `pdf-lib` (MIT) and `pdfjs-dist` (Apache-2.0) for rendering and creating PDFs, and self-hosted signature and interface fonts under the SIL Open Font License. See our for the full list and required credits.
Feedback. If you send us suggestions or feedback, you agree we can use them without owing you anything.
8. No warranty
The Service is provided "AS IS" and "AS AVAILABLE," without warranties of any kind — express, implied, or statutory — including implied warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement, to the maximum extent the law allows.
In practice: PDF Sign Pad runs unsupervised in your browser with no human review of your files, so we can't guarantee a perfect or lossless result, or that every element of your original document (formatting, metadata, embedded content) survives signing or flattening. We also don't warrant that a signature created with the Service will be recognized as valid, binding, or enforceable by any counterparty, court, regulator, or other authority — see Section 6. Always check your output before you rely on it — this matters especially for legal, financial, medical, or other important documents. We also don't promise the Service will be uninterrupted, secure, error-free, or always available.
Some places don't allow excluding certain warranties, so some of the above may not apply to you in full.
9. Limitation of liability
To the maximum extent the law allows, ZIX DEV Inc is not liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages — including lost profits, data, or goodwill — arising from your use of (or inability to use) the Service, including damage to any file you process. This includes, without limitation, any loss, dispute, missed deadline, rejected filing, or other consequence arising from your reliance on a signature created with the Service — including its acceptance or non-acceptance by any counterparty, court, regulator, or other third party (Section 6).
Our total liability for any claim is capped at the greater of (a) what you paid us for the Service in the 12 months before the claim arose (currently $0, since the Service is free) or (b) US$100. This cap applies no matter the legal theory (contract, tort, or otherwise), even if we've been told such damages were possible. *(This numeric floor is flagged for outside-counsel confirmation — some jurisdictions restrict liability caps below certain consumer-protection floors.)*
Some places don't allow limiting liability this way, so some of this may not apply to you, and you may have additional rights.
10. Advertising, analytics & other third-party services
The Service may link to third-party sites we don't own or control. We're not responsible for their content or practices, and a link isn't an endorsement — you use those sites at your own risk, under their own terms.
Analytics. We use privacy-friendly, cookieless analytics (self-hosted Plausible) to understand how the Service is used — it sets no cookies, collects no personal data or cross-site identifiers, needs no consent banner, and never touches your document or signature content. Our explains this in detail (§5).
Advertising. PDF Sign Pad shows no ads and includes no advertising integration — decided at launch (we hold a signing tool to a higher trust bar than our other tools). We may introduce advertising in a future version; if we ever do, it would be disclosed, would run through an independent third-party network (such as Google AdSense), would never serve without a separate internal sign-off, and that network would be an independent third party, not our agent — we would not endorse or take responsibility for ad content, and any interaction you have with an advertiser would be governed by that party's own terms, not ours.
One thing that would never change: no document, signature, or file-derived content you process with the Service is ever shared with an advertiser, ad network, or analytics provider. This section works alongside, not instead of, Sections 8 (No warranty) and 9 (Limitation of liability).
11. Independence & trademarks
PDF Sign Pad is an independent product operated by ZIX DEV Inc. It is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or sponsored by DocuSign, Adobe, Smallpdf, iLovePDF, SignWell, Dropbox Sign, or any other third-party company or product referenced for comparison anywhere on this site. Any comparisons we make to those products are factual and are not intended to disparage them.
The product name is always "PDF Sign Pad" — we don't shorten it to a bare "SignPad" or "Sign Pad" in anything we publish. "PDF Sign Pad" and the pdfsignpad.com branding are ZIX DEV Inc's, used under common-law rights; we do not currently claim any US federal trademark registration in this name.
12. Changes to the Service and these Terms
We may add, change, or discontinue any part of the Service at any time, since it's offered free of charge.
We may also update these Terms. When we do, we'll post the new version here and update the "Effective date" above; for material changes, we'll try to flag it on the site. Continuing to use the Service after an update means you accept the revised Terms.
13. Ending your use
You can stop using PDF Sign Pad at any time — there's no account to close and nothing to cancel.
We may suspend or block your access if we reasonably believe you've violated these Terms or misused the Service, or if we discontinue it. Sections that should naturally survive — including Sections 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, and 11 — continue to apply after your use ends.
14. Governing law and disputes
These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of Delaware, United States, without regard to its conflict-of-laws rules. Any dispute arising out of or relating to these Terms or the Service is subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the state or federal courts located in Delaware, United States, and you consent to that jurisdiction and venue.
These Terms don't include a mandatory-arbitration or class-action-waiver clause.
15. General
A few standard items: these Terms, together with our Privacy Policy and our Disclaimer, are the entire agreement between you and ZIX DEV Inc about the Service, and replace any earlier agreements on this subject; if any part of these Terms turns out to be unenforceable, the rest still stands; our failure to enforce a provision isn't a waiver of our right to do so later; you can't assign these Terms to someone else, but we may — for example, in a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets; and we're not liable for delays or failures caused by events outside our reasonable control.
